Being a human being in the world is not so easy these days. People are grappling with the impacts of a global pandemic, increasing political and racial tensions, and fear around what the future holds for our families and our communities.
The state of the world can feel overwhelming at times and our bodies and souls are very sensitive to these energies. In childhood, when our systems became overwhelmed, we learned to turn away, tune out, and distract from these sensations; we learned to say “no” to our experiences in order to protect ourselves.
While these defenses were very normal and valuable then, in adulthood, they limit us. We become shut down to both the challenging feelings and the uplifting ones, limiting our ability to experience the goodness of ourselves and of humanity.
In this two day online workshop, we will learn ways to embrace and disarm the natural defenses and resistances that have served us, and shift from looking outside ourselves for a distraction, to bravely risk coming closer to ourselves and the truth of who we are.
In the Diamond Approach, we honor defenses and get curious about them. As we learn how to stay with our experience, resistance softens with understanding, kindness, and allowing, inviting the soul to come forth. In that coming forth, is the richness of who you are, an opening to a deeper truth about yourself. And that deeper truth is what you’re actually longing for.
“When you learn how to enter your experience you discover the deeper truth of your own basic goodness, your own resiliency and that is true liberation.”

“Ridhwan” is a Sufi word. It means “satisfied and satisfying.” Our school, home to more than 4,000 students across the globe, has the potential to both help you to be fulfilled and to help others be fulfilled. Students learn to ground, sensitize, recognize, and trust the inherent guidance of Being.
The Diamond Approach is the core teaching of the Ridhwan School, a spiritual path that approaches our ordinary experiences, emotions, and sensations in a friendly way of understanding. This radical acceptance of our situation allows something to come through that puts us in touch with our spirituality.
In the Diamond Approach, everything we experience is utilized as a doorway to our spiritual nature. Rather than negating or seeking to transcend parts of our humanness that are considered barriers to realization, we learn to approach each aspect of our physical, emotional, and mental experience with acceptance and open curiosity to discover its truth. We do meditation and other exercises, but the main method is inquiry: non-judgment of what we’re experiencing, which brings crisp clarity into one’s own truth.
In this 6-hour recorded workshop, you’ll hear a talk from Jessica, have the opportunity to participate in experiential exercises, and learn from Jessica and other participants during a Q&A period.
