We are a mystery school that has provided the teachings of the Diamond Approach to the world for 45 years. The way we have taught this spiritual body of knowledge is through ongoing groups that gather regularly in person for weekends and retreats.
Since COVID-19 began, we moved all of our current in-person groups online for the sake of safety. We have been inspired by the kinds of experiences that emerged from this transition to gathering online, and we feel the real possibility of offering an ongoing group in this online format.
We are inviting new students who value spiritual illumination, who sincerely want to know the truth of life and reality, to join us for a living laboratory that we intend to become our first Diamond Heart Online group (DHON1).
Our intention is to develop an international group of committed students, of many cultures and backgrounds, that can go on for some years. This is a novel opportunity for those who want to engage with this path in an ongoing way but are unable to participate in our usual, preferred, in-person style. This group is for new students only.
The best way to learn more is to participate in courses like this from our introductory series, Walking the Diamond Path. Here you may experientially explore the teachings of the school with the founders of the Diamond Approach, long-time Diamond Approach students, and other seekers, lovers, adventurers of consciousness who are new to the path.
“You are not a rejectable person. Nobody is a rejectable person…we are all not only not rejectable, not only acceptable, but we're all precious, we're all important.”
- A.H. Almaas, co-founder of the Diamond Approach
There is no denying that things are challenging in the world right now and we’re all having different reactions to what’s happening. We may struggle to deal with difficult circumstances, be experiencing fears and worries, or become overwhelmed by all we are confronted with.
In the face of this, our initial response is often to distract ourselves – to push the hard things away or numb ourselves to avoid the pain and uncomfortable feelings. We may think that rejecting difficulty gets us away from it, but it actually ties us much more intricately to it, like a kind of glue.
Acceptance shows us another way.
We often think of acceptance as agreeing with what’s happening or simply going along with something. We may associate acceptance with a sense of resignation or “accepting our fate.” But true acceptance is actually a spiritual quality that allows us to be exactly where we are; we can face whatever arises without either grasping or rejecting, allowing us to be truly free.

“Acceptance isn’t about giving up. Acceptance means no denial, no minimizing, no exaggeration. No telling ourselves stories - we see things as they are.”
- A.H. Almaas, co-founder of the Diamond Approach
“When you don't interfere with what's happening, the aliveness of reality meets you in that spot and shows you the next discovery.”
- Zarina Maiwandi, Diamond Approach teacher

A.H. Almaas (pen name for Hameed Ali) is the founder of the Diamond Approach, a contemporary teaching that developed within the context of both ancient spiritual teachings and modern depth psychology theories. He has authored eighteen books about spiritual realization, including the Diamond Heart series, The Pearl Beyond Price, The Void, and The Alchemy of Freedom. He is the founder of the Ridhwan School for Spiritual Development, an inner work school devoted to the realization of True Nature. The orientation of the school is directed toward guiding students to realize their true nature to the fullest realization and further still, to endless enlightenment.
Zarina Maiwandi has been a student of the Diamond Approach since 1999 and a teacher since 2015, working with groups in the United States, Asia, and Europe. Trained as an academic studying Western philosophy and literature, she edits books, including several written by A. H. Almaas.
“Ridhwan” is a Sufi word. It means “satisfied and satisfying.” Our school, home to more than 4,000 students across the globe, has the potential to both help you to be fulfilled and to help others be fulfilled. Students learn to ground, sensitize, recognize, and trust the inherent guidance of Being.
The Diamond Approach is the core teaching of the Ridhwan School, a spiritual path that approaches our ordinary experiences, emotions, and sensations in a friendly way of understanding. This radical acceptance of our situation allows something to come through that puts us in touch with our spirituality.
In the Diamond Approach, everything we experience is utilized as a doorway to our spiritual nature. Rather than negating or seeking to transcend parts of our humanness that are considered barriers to realization, we learn to approach each aspect of our physical, emotional, and mental experience with acceptance and open curiosity to discover its truth. We do meditation and other exercises, but the main method is inquiry: non-judgment of what we’re experiencing, which brings crisp clarity into one’s own truth.
